I’ve had many friends tell me to go out and buy this Rodney Strong Sonoma Cabernet and ignore the fact that it’s a big producer (I like to find the small ones with unique stories). So, I finally gave in and I must say that for $17 (or even up to $35), this is an INCREDIBLE Cab! It’s bursting with ripe red fruit like, dare I say: a Napa Cab? The vanilla is strong on the finish and makes this a great “by itself” or with anything else sort of wine. This is great for Tuesday night wine and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday too.
I’m glad you like our Rodney Strong ’08 Sonoma County Cabernet. It’s showing the richness of the vintage and is fleshed out with a lot of fruit. I enjoy it at home all the time. Our ’08 Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet is even more focused on the great qualities of the AV wine appellation – cassis, cherry, supple tannins – and gets a lot of attention at $25. Our smallest bottlings from our single vineyard Cabernets from our Alexander’s Crown, Rockaway and Brothers vineyards show how delicious and different Cabernet can be grown from the southern, middle or northern end of Alexander Valley. Nothing can replace the quality you get from having the right grapevines planted on the best sites. I hope you have an opportunity to try them all, or come by the tasting room to check them out. Ask for the tour and see the inner workings of our local family-owned winery and how it runs.
