This direct trade, shade grown coffee from Peru
has got to be the smoothest coffee I’ve ever made at home, maybe ever had for that matter. Many of the coffees I’ve purchased from Counter Culture have the distinct flavors of the land, regions, etc. where they are grown, but this one is different…in a darn good way too. Not to take away from the others which I enjoy as well, but this has the smoothness of caramel and lack of the acidity or even wine-like tannic feel. Awesome coffee indeed!

The description of this coffee tasting notes from the label is “strawberry, blackberry, and dark honey”…
I’m not sure I get all of that, but for the first time, I actually taste the berry in the coffee. This bean and roast are perfect from counter culture (hooked on from murky back in Clarendon,VA) as my morning joe now has some of the same nuances as my evening wine. Just opened a new bag yesterday so I’ll write about that one once we’re done with it.
Just finished a bag of @counter_culture Kenya Single Lot Coffee
The 12oz bag shipped direct from our favorite roaster (thanks Murky in Clarendon who introduced us to Counter Culture) lasted about 2 weeks. I’m introducing a new concept: “They Said” and “I Think”. Here goes…
They (Counter Culture) Said: “This beautifully bright and intensely flavorful lot resonates with notes of blackcurrant, tropical fruit, and dark chocolate.”
I Think: It’s coffee. Maybe it has some fruit like tastes, but overall, it’s a really smooth and enjoyable. Potentially some cocoa like taste or notes, but let’s just say it’s a really good way to start the day.
