Mumm Napa Pinot Noir 2008 – Think about a Cherry Mojito…

So, it’s nothing new to anyone who follows this blog that I don’t like the minerally, earthy pinots.  This 2008 Mumm Pinot Noir fits the bill nicely and for those of you in Pennsylvania, the PLCB is working for you on this one.  The retail is listed as $32 on Mumm’s site and in the PA Wine & Spirits store, it’s on the shelf for $9.99.  So, it’s a good bargain, but how does it taste?

I didn’t check the retail price and let the savings affect my enjoyment (or lack thereof).  I found that this had the fruitiness of pomegranate and cherry offset by a hint of mint on the finish.  I really enjoyed this (as did the wife) and we’re heading back to our local wine and spirits store to get more; this is a great wine for fall.
